 Question for you guys. I'm new to turning (so new in fact, I've not yet put a piece of wood on a lathe), and have an old craftsman 12 in wood lathe (model 113.228162). I just pulled it out of a garage and am cleaning it up. Looks like I'm ready to go, but one "point" is bent (the one that was in the spur center), and one is missing (the one that should be in the center at the end of the lathe). Anyone know where I can get these points? (they are number 1 morse taper centers according to the manual, if that matters) Does woodcraft sell stuff like this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, gentlemen, I shall give them a try. I've been wanting to try turning for some time, and so I'll be bothering you professionals often.

Well, then, woodcraft in Towson is what it will be! Thanks.
Now, I guess I should find a dvd for absolute beginner turners. If anyone can recommend one right off the top of their head, that would be appreciated.

I found a bunch of help at my local AAW chapter club. I highly recommend joining. Your local Woodcrafters store has demonstrations and may be able to help you hook up with a local wood turning club. I would not be surprise if your club has DVD's to borrow, ours does. You might find a mentor at the club and think we have a mentors list here at SC.

I am not sure what taper that lathe uses. Take your existing spur drive into that Woodcraft and have them match it up... It *SHOULD* be MT#1 or MT#2, which Woodcraft carries all day long, at least on their web site... Pretty sure the stores would have that...
