Went wood gathering today with a fellow creeker and a friend and got some aromatic cedar, holy and birch. While stopper at Bill Chapmans house to play on his Jet lathe, I was offered a piece of Spalted Tamarind that his friend brought back from Hawaii. So I made a bottle stopper out of it. This end piece had a chain saw cut in it  that I cleaned up and opened up to look like it was planned. I guess it was since I didn't want to through the wood away. :p It is sanded to 600 and finished with Mylands friction polish.

Thanks for looking

Looks good Dick!
Im not too far from K town just across the state line from Kingsport Tn.
I did some work down there last year. And I go see the Vols play football some but it's been a few years.

Thanks Doug and Jim, the pictures don't do the wood justice. This is some real pretty wood and I would have hated to waste even this little piece.
