I'm a new hobby woodworker in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area and I'm researching domestic and exotic hardwood dealers within a 100 mile radius. I have a planer and jointer so I would perfer to purchase rough lumber to do the final milling myself. Online purchasing is always an option but it's much better to see what your getting in person.

Any information on dealers in this area and your experiences with them would be appreciated.

I'm in New Orleans so I'm probably at the edge of your radius but I use Riverside Lumber (www.riversidelumber.com (http://www.riversidelumber.com)) in New Orleans and Gueydan Lumber in Metairie. Riverside is better for the exotics, there is a list of what they cover on the website. I prefer Gueydan for domestics.
