I want to upgrade from a king to a queen. This board was so helpful when i built my built in closets, which i documented with pictures on this site.
I live in NYC so i dont have a work space but i can just have the lumber yard cut the wood to my specs, which means i need to have a good detailed plan.
I need some advice on if its worth building my own bed. i see all these beds for sale for like 1500-2k and i dont like any of them. i'm not a fan of box springs so i just wanted a nice platform bed, but the ones they sell in stores sit too low.
Is it cost effective to build a simple platform king bed with 4 legs - and basic wood rails. i would like to use real woods and quality matterials so it looks great and is of good quality.

similar to this bed but with real wood beams and one that will sit higher off ground and not stick out as much so i dnt kill my knee every time i try to get in and out of bed.
any thoughts?
