Many of my shop jigs have been thrown together quickly as needed, and could use some improvements in order to become more permanent fixtures. I have some time next week that I plan to use re-building better versions of many of my jigs, as well as making some new jigs. I'm looking for ideas and inspirations for new innovative jigs, as well as for nifty features or improvements for more standard jigs. On the aggenda for sure are better box joint jig, better spline cutting jig, new router table fence, and a slot mortising jig. Suggestions on any good books about jigs would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Can't help you with box joint jig, new router table fence, or a slot mortising jig because I've got a Woodrat. However, you're welcome to evaluate this spline jig. Although most of my splines are <18", I have cut some 8 footers with this. I use it most to rip off molding made on my RT. Exact thickness with molding is very important when mitering. Basically a 4" strip of MDF that sets against the fence for consistent thickness. Work is carried past the blade by the pusher shoe.
