Several models of the recent breed of 14-inch band saws have the power to handle this without much trouble. You might want to talk to Larry U. He bought the Rikon, and likes it a bunch.

redwood will be easy to cut with any bandsaw. Preferably you'd want one with a good resaw blade like a timberwolf or woodslicer brand that is at least 1/2" and 2-3 tpi.

One does not usually buy a stationary power tool for a specific job, but a 14" bandsaw with a 2 hp motor would easily handle this. You may get some responses to do it on your table saw - don't. It's dangerous, period, and the emergency room visit will cost you a lot more than the $800 you're going to spend on a stationary 14" bandsaw.

If this is all you forsee needing a bandsaw for, find a commercial shop with a dedicated resaw and pay them to do it. It'll be a lot cheaper.

I've resawn up to 1" x 8" pieces of Redwood on a Rikon 14" bandsaw with no problems. It glides right through.

I think the most important part is having a good resaw blade. I use a Timberwolf blade that's 3/4" x 2/3 TPI.

I'm a Grizzly Industrial fan, myself. For the home shop, the GO555X with riser bar is great for resawing if you're interested in a 14" BS. I can and have resawn 12" material. There are faster, more powerful saws. I'm pleased with mine for my needs.
