The lathe looks like an old Sears lathe that has been painted. If my memory suits me the original color was a very dark gray. Not a bad tool if the size suits you.

This is amusing. I think I have both those tools. The lathe looks like the old Sears lathe that I have. It's been over-painted blue, as Faust said. The drill press looks like an old "Duracraft" Taiwanese drill press that I use, also over-painted blue. It doesn't show the table attachment that is meant to slide up and down the column.

I think there were some Taiwanese knockoffs of the Sears lathe, too - could be one of those.

Thanks for the replies. I did a bit of research and found that the lathe did resemble a Craftsman. These two machines are on Craig's List here in Vegas. I'll probably pass on them.

Thanks again,
Ed

The round bed Sears lathe was around in the early 60's. I used to demonstrate Sears woodworking machines around Christmas, and used one of those lathes. the drill press, however re badged, looks like a typical Taiwanese import.

I didn't do any large turning on the lathe. I always thought it was too light, but someone who has made larger turnings needs to comment.

Then lathe is good for small spindles, but not for bowls. Very light duty.
