I have seen many recommendations for using Johnson's Paste Wax for protecting your table saw's cast iron. Looking around my house I don't have any, but I do have Briwax. Is this essentially the same thing, and can I use it in place of Johnson's?

TIA,
Bill

Any non-silicone and non-water based wax shold work. Do not use automotive type waxes as they contain either silicone or water or both.

The Briwax I have has dye in it. If you used it on a top, it might impart color to wood run across it. I'd try it on a small spot first.

My local supply house told me that Briwax had gone out of business and they would no longer be able to get supply of it. Anyone know if this is true?
