When I began turning, I wouldn't get rid of anything. I make all the off cuts into small blanks for whatever. Now, I'm overrun with these dry blanks and have run out of ideas what to do with them.

Most are rectangular in the 1x1x4 up to 4x4x8 range with everything in between and around.

I'm thinking bird houses, tops, boxes of all types, then my mind goes blank.

I'm out of ideas. Help!

Magic word may be "glue". Joining various cuts can result in repetitive or random designs, both as segmented work and non-segmented. Try to maintain grain orientation.
Enjoy!

1 3/4" X 1 3/4"X 3 1/4" is a good size for egg blanks.

Good Lord... there's lots of stuff you can make out of these small things...

In no particular order:

regular spin tops, tippee tops, bottle stoppers, bird houses, tree ornaments, buttons, scoops, eggs, spheres, handles for wands, finials for ornaments, darning eggs, measuring spoons, small boxes- button boxes, needle boxes, pill boxes, pens, pencils, light chain pulls, shaving brush handles, door stops, tea lights, bud or twig vases, yo-yos, throw tops, crochet hooks, pendants, earings, bracelets, knapkin rings, apples, pears, baby rattles, candle sticks, darts, shawl pins/rings, hairsticks, biscuit cutters, paper potters for making newspaper planting pots.....

and if nothing else, miniature goblets, bowls, plates and hollowforms.

Is that enough or shall I go on?:D

Just cruise through Etsy or your Craft Supplies catalog for ideas...

A bunch of those 1x1x4 might glue up to a nice 4" thick checkerboard bowl blank. Why mess with that little stuff when you can make a honking big blank?
