Good Morning,
Beautiful weekend here. Many enjoyed the outdoors this weekend while some of us worked. The good news is that I'm working new projects at work and that means continued employment to me.

No woodworking for me this past weekend, just work, church, and spending time with the family as we brought the boys home from church camp last night around 8:30PM. They had a good time but was also glad to be back home. Of course "we" were glad to have them back home as well.

Today, I will ride and provide escort for the funeral of Private William Long, age 23, that will killed here in Little Rock this past week. Some of you may have read about it or heard about it in the news. Sad story and please remember all those that are presently fighting for our country in your thoughts and prayers.

That's it for me....so what did YOU do this past weekend?

Best of weeks to you all.

Sorry to hear of a soldier lost. Thanks for being there for his family.

I finished up the speakers in the van without another trip to the ER. Didn't even spill any blood!! Can't believe how much better the system sounds with this set of speakers and the third amp running. I pulled these speakers out of the old Mazda PU, and had missed the midrange, stage presence, and just over all sound that they add. Can't believe it's taken 7 years to get them installed!
No other work in the shop for me. Last Thursday night on the computer, I got a wierd popup about this long string with .dll at the end couldn't be found. But the computer was working fine. Figured I'd run my Friday night routine of ad ware and anti virus...on boot up Friday eve, I get a background, but nothing else. No buttons to push, nothing. Tried to use my backup, it loads to the point I can see it on the hard drive, but won't do anything.:mad::mad: So I'll be rebuilding that for the next week or so. Now I'm trying to find a good ghost program (Acronis) so I can actually read the drive information on the backup drive, not just see that there is information there. Live and learn.
Have a great week! I'm off Friday for a long weekend. I'm so ready for that! Jim.

Sunday, we had a HS graduation party for our oldest son. that was fun, we made too much food so this week it looks like left overs... which is fine with me.

the funniest part of the day was last night. Michaels friends decided to play wiffle ball, but didn't have a bat, so they used on the kid's Acoustic Guitar as a bat. (it was a cheapy guitar)

and of course I worked at work on Saturday.

We set up LOML Jr's pool, gave her the third annual clothes-and-all toss into it (you'd think that by the third year she'd expect it) before the water truck even got out of the driveway and drained, cleaned, and refilled the hot tub. Also set up some soaker hoses and a sprinkler to make it easier for LOML to water. I tried to do a little work in the shop but was to distracted by some things I've got going on to be either effective or safe so I didn't do much.

Yesterday I spent seven hours at my parents designing the final layout of their kitchen. The goal is to select a contractor by the end of this week so that we can set up a meeting for the following week to go over all the plans with him and order materials no later than 2 weeks from today.

iT WAS AN EXPEERIENCE! Started with the chain on my 6' behrens tiller going out. Pulled off the cover and sure enough the chain had broken in one place. Lots of metal bits. Got out a rep[lacement link but it seems that there is just too much slack. No idea if the loseness contributes to the failure.
At the same time, I have an old wheelbarrow with an iron wheel. Got out some oak rough sawn boards and started tpo plane them down. Next thing I knew the white metal sides on the planer gave up the ghost, Bang - no more planer. Went to the store and wow, $649 for a new one.
Went home and pulled out an old Parks planer. Worked on it for about 30 minutes, found that someone had placed a second nut on each of the springs for the rollers. Took them out and finished the boards. By the way, they aren't the oak I paid .90 cents a bf, they cleaned up to a beautiful finish that I'm not sure I want to use them on an old wheelbarrow.
All in all a vbusy weekend.

Started installation of Bamboo florring in dining room. A this point I'm wondering if I should not have hired it done by a pro. The room has angled wall at one end so the end of each row has to be cut an angle to fit.

It will be beautiful when done but I'm aching all over right now and still not done.

Was out in the shop Saturday working on my coffee table, and in one of my more brilliant moves thought it would be fun to hand cut all of the mortise and tenons for it (8 in total). By the end of they day, I had 2 mortises cut, 3 tenons, my left thumb and middle finger, but on the bright side I found out my backsaw is really sharp.

Built 15 brood chamber frames, 1/2 dozen shallow super honey frames, 3 top screens and inspected 5 beehives. So far so good. At least I got to run the tablesaw and make some wood dust for a change. :D

Sharpened a jointer plane blade and a bench chisel. Turned a bowl-like thing. Got rid of a bunch of useless wood. Attended a great Northern California get-together for another woodworking forum (I assume it's not verboten (yet) to mention other forum affiliations...). Saw some friends afterwards. Ate too much.

I finally got some play time with the new tools. I have been running around for the last month trying to get tools together for a shop. Seems everything is back ordered or out of stock or what ever. The first projects were a shelf and cabinet for the sister in law got them done and delivered on Sunday and did some work on her house. Saturday found enough time to run and pick up the new shaper from the woodcraft sale. It has had to sit all weekend till today finally got to unwrap it. Now since I am on vacation its still the weekend I get to clean out the garage and put all the tools away for the next project.

All horsie weekend again, outside of some planting and weeding in the new gardens around our front walkway. It was still too wet to mow...and I may need to bring Elvis down from the stable to help "mow the field" soon as a result.

Normally, I just post and let the weekend update go... I think this is sort of funny so... here is an update.

but I found out from my daughter, Christina, age 10, that the guitar did not make it through the wiffle ball game. Three broken strings and a broken neck. May it rest in peace.
