Just when you think you've seen just about everything, here comes a new take while browsing ebay.

Not mine - here's a Stanley #7 cut down to 11 inches, 3 inches from front to throat. Dovetailed bars drilled and tapped into body for the mahogany knob and tote. Weighs 6 lbs. The builder of this curiosity also has a sense of humor, adding at the end of the item's description: "You can save me from myself by not bidding, or, well... encourage such strange after hours behavior."

What a hoot. And also, what a great way to salvage a plane with a damaged casting. I have at least one plane with a big chip in one of the front corners of the casting. Rather than just throw up his hands, this guy saw this as an opportunity to be creative and convert a "junk" plane into a useful and unique tool. Cudos to him.
