This is one of the tools I recently acquired. It needs new belts and some TLC. I'd like to find a manual or a website to get more info on it. Anyone out there that can help?

You could try Old Woodworking Machines http://www.owwm.com. I have found it is a very helpful resource for older machines.

Double what David posted. OWWM site has manuals for damn near any woodworking machine you come across.

If it isn't vintage enough for OWWM try here: http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/ Towards the top of the left hand side there is a search box to type in the model number.

The only thing tricky on these machines is spindle bearing replacement, which requires that the bearings be set for a precise amount of running load. Happily there's a guy out there who sells matched bearings and spacers. He also will do the whole cartridge rebuild. You can find him here:

Thanks very much. I haven't fired it up yet because it needs new belts and a cord. The shaft spins and seems very solid though. If it has any issues, I'll go right there. thanks again. I'm going to the Delta site right now to look for the manual.

Rockwell/Delta HD shapers use only ONE belt. Perhaps your shaper has *step-pulleys* on spindle and motor, to allow either 7000 or 10,000 rpm.

Want a tip on TLC for the top?
Get some Bar Keepers Friend at the grocery store to clean it. Does an awesome job. Follow the directions on the can.
