I am looking forward to the show... and the week of vacation. It would be great to meet some other creeker's.
Any suggestions of other places to see, things not to miss, nearby to Mystic CT?

Hi Gary, I'd like to say I'll be there, but I'm not sure. I'm planning on going to take in the show and also do some research at their library to see if I can identify my recent acquisition of an old wooden boat. However, this will be one of my "Serendipity" trips. That means if I get to a corner and decide to go right, when my plan was to go left, I'll go right. To be truthful, I don't know where I'll end up. I'm throwing my kayak on top of my pick-up and off we go. As time gets close, lets keep in touch and meet up if we're there at the same time. Anyone else. Let's have a party. John

Gary and John, count me in! I've been looking forward to attending another WBS since the show in St Michaels, MD in 1998. I'll drive from NH to Longmeadow, MA Friday evening; spend the night with friends there, then onto Mystic early Saturday morning.

I've not been to the Mystic area before...looking forward to it.

You want to try for Saturday morning breakfast?

...John, breakfast is my favorite meal. I've not been to Mystic before...it will be a real treat to see the Museum and the WBS is just frosting on the cake.

John & Nate,

I am also a big fan of breakfast, count me in. I will PM my cell number to both of you. The wife and I are driving to Mystic Thursday night. I might be able to find a good place by polling the locals Friday.

I will give y'all a call Friday. (Southern term I will try not to use north of the Mason-Dixon line.:D)

Thinking of going, though I am not a boat builder. Sounds like a great event.

The area has a lot of small museums and historic sites, plus there are two large casinos. Newport is a short drive away, Block Island a ferry ride, and
there is also an aquarium in Mystic proper.

This has a bit more info on places to check out. Despite living so close, I have not been to Mystic in a number of years.

I can't offer advice on specifica places to eat in Mystic, but if you have interests you have outside boat building, post them up, and I could give some ideas.

I'm there just for the day on Saturday so I won't be leaving the Seaport campus...

Well, I'm sitting in Providence RI right now. I'll be at the Mystic Seaports Research Center tomorrow around 10:00. I maybe looking to have lunch if anyone's interested.

Also, any ideas for breakfast on Saturday?

I'm off to the WoodenBoat Show in Mystic, CT in about an hour...and I've been sitting at my desk rackin' my tiny brain to come up with something interesting to post about wooden boats. To no avail!

Well, I'm kinda dreading the drive this afternoon from Hanover, NH to Springfield, MA (where I'll spend the night) 'cause it's raining...and I don't care to drive in the rain much...so maybe the weather will improve as I go south.

Anyway I promise to post some wooden boat photos on my return...I'm borrowing my daughter's digital camera.

Just in case anyone will be in the Mystic area on Saturday morning, it'll be breakfast at Norm's Diner in Groton at 8:30 A.M.

I spent most of the day at the Mystic Library in the Collections department. It's the first time I've had to wear white gloves while going over boat plans. Anyway, I didn't find my boat, but I did rule out many. The rest of the day I spent walking around the wooden boat show. There are certainly quite a few great looking wooden boats at Mystic. Tomorrow it's off to Groton for breakfast. Then I'm going to kayak around Mystic River the rest of the morning and then on dry land to see the rest of the boat show. I'll try to get some pictures also.
