I am building cabinets in my garage shop. I am building cabinets 15 1/2 deep and 48 inches tall. I would like to incorporate swing out pegboard panels.

My idea is to make a 2-sided pegboard panel. Install that panel in cabinet
in front of 2 shallow shelves.......10 inch deep shelves. Can I do this easily using dowels?

Dowels inserted in a hole drilled completely through the top most shelf and half way thru bottom shelf. Use nylon bushings to ease pressure.

Anyone done something like this?

hello,
Dowels will work, but you'll sacrifice interior space.
My pegboard "clamshell" uses piano hinges.
That way the ouside sits flush with the frame & allows more interior space.

If you make the cabinet deeper to allow for more space, then the weight/leverage of the open pegboard sections - especially if loaded - becomes a significant factor.

A picture may give you a better idea of what I'm getting at.
