2 more, first one I don't know the wood, second one is plywood. both about 1/8" thick.
I used Auto Air airbrush paint and just rattle can Deft. I really hate taking pics of lacquered pieces, but they sure are pretty when you display them.

Plywood? yer kidding... not.

Astounding Sascha! Great stuff there, the air brushing adds to the piece big time!

forgot one thing, the red in the first form is more blended in and has no pink. I guess the miracle of taking pics of shiny objects:mad:

It's really impressive when you can turn plywood into that. Great job.

Sascha, I have always had an affinity for the shiney things too! After lots of coats and some fine sanding before the buffing they are almost mirrors. I love the use of color and how it completly chages the wood and makes you think more of pottery than wood. Need to get out the airbrush soon! No wood work today, as I am welding all day or untill my shoulders give out! Been up since 2 A.M. and I am bushed already!

Keep up the great work,

Jeff

Sascha, I am assuming that you create your blank by "stacking" and gluing the plywood, is that correct.

yup, i actually had a stack glued up that was 10"x10"x20" much faster that way, but rounding it was a pain.

Jeff, i use mainly candy colors and they really show depth when you put lacquer on.

have fun in your shop, i would love to learn how to weld

Once again - real nice work! Both are great but the plywood really stands out for me. Has to be the unusual color (for wood) and also the distinctive grain pattern. Will have a lot of folks trying to guess what kind of wood it is!

Great job on the gloss finish and also with the photos!

Sascha:

Those are really nice pieces. A gentleman at the woodturning club did a demo on airbrushing last month and he did some nice pieces too. He finished his with Krylon spray Crystal Coat from W-mart.

I need to try it too.
