Greg's pendant reminded me of these earrings I made for LOML a while back. I don't know what kind of wood they are but it was from a tree from the backyard of our first house (as if earrings made by your husband aren't sentimental enough). I took a small piece of scrap and sliced it in two for a bookmatched pair. Then I used a scrollsaw to shape the teardrop. Then I used a glue block to mount them on a piece of scrap that was turned round and then sliced at an angle to hollow out the hole. I refined the shape with sanding drums. Finish is tung oil, I think. Thanks for looking.
