No catches on this one! Very simple form, 5 ½” in diameter x 3 ½” high and finished with wipe-on poly.

Pretty form and a great finish Steve. Hey, the next time you take pic's of a piece like this could you take one shot for a top view. I'll bet the flow of the grain is really becoming crossing over that undulating top..Thanks for sharing...Bill...

Another beauty!
You really have the art perfected!
I too, would like to see the tops.
Also, how thick, typically?

Steve,
You cranked out another gem. I think this piece would've been great dyed or with an embellishment like woodburning or piercing. But I like the evenness of the grain pattern too. So simple is perfectly fitting for it also.:)

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I do appreciate it!

Keith - I totally understand your feelings with the form! Lets just say that I have been experimenting with what I call a diamond shape. Not sure I have the exact shape I am thinking of yet but it is a work in progress.

Thought about dying this piece but figure everyone was tired of red or green - which are the only dye colors I have right now! Been giving it some thought and will start getting a little more creative with color before to long!

Chris - long time no hassle! Good to see you posting again!

Steve, very nice shape! Very pleasing to the eye, at least these eyes! How many coats of the poly would you typically put on something like this? If more than one what would you sand with between coats? Thanks and nice job. I always enjoy seeing your work.

John - I usually put 5 to 7 coats of poly on my turnings. Build the finish up a little - say 3 coats and then lightly sand with a 320 grit sanding sponge - just enough to take any bumps off. Once done applying finish - let it sit for at least a week to let everything cure a little - then buff.

Sean - you do realize that the photos are just different views of one hollow form...... right? Just messing with ya!
