Hello,

My new Craftsman 1 HP 3 gallon compressor is doing well, and it serves my purposes with my nail guns, but it’s still louder than I expected it to be, considering that it’s an oil-lubed model.

Question: I’ve heard about something called “Silencer” air filters. My compressor has an air filter on it, but is there something different called a “silencer” filter, or does this just refer to any air filter on a compressor?

If there is such a thing called a “silencer” air filter, would it be likely that I could find one to fit my compressor, and would it be worthwhile to get one? Would it likely reduce the noise level?

Have any of you heard of this, or are all compressor air filters “silencer” filters?

Thanks,
Louis
