Drawer units with birch and oak 3/4 plywood, solid oak face frames, very heavy!
Drawers are pine with Oak Fronts.
Second picture is while I am attaching the fronts, after finishing.

All the parts for head & foot boards before and during final size cutting. Head and Foot boards are constructed of 3 x 4 posts (hollow glue ups) with frame and flat panel and applied molding.

John, need more pics!! Sure looks like a neat project. I am trying to get the overall design - is the drawer unit underneath the bed? What looks to be a shelf unit - is that a part of the headboard? How do the footboard/headboard connect? So many questions!!!!

You have whetted our appetite - give us more.

The head board is bolted to the drawer units using 3/8x4" bolts. This provides a solid set up that will not work loose over the years, yet is easily taken apart for moving.
first picture is the headboard in place before the finishing,
second the headboard finished, notice the bolts on the bottom of posts.
third picture shows bolt holes in drawer unit.
lastly, foot board sitting on top of work table.

Ahhh! The plan comes together. Thanks, John, for the pics. It is much clearer now. Nice project, and you are right, it should be solid as a rock!

Beautiful bed John, but the decor in the bedroom sucks!! Need to do something with the OSB walls and all those tools laying around! :D
