I'm not sure what you would call this but it is what it is. This is another piece of the Ironbark Eucalyptus I got from Vaughn McMillan. It's 10.5" long, 4.5-5" wide, and 4.5" tall. The slab and the Hf are both about 1/4" thick. The bottom is round. I guess I decided on this shape so I could show the beauty of the wood. AO for the finish.

In another thread the question of what is art was brought up, i still don't think we've answered that but question but I can safely say that what you created there is definitely art.

Curt, The wood is beautiful and the shape of the HF is just cool! I have a big hunk of eucylptus that I got from Mr. Jarrod McGehee and I plan on finally getting in on the lathe tomorrow! I hope I do well with it, I will try to core 4 bowls out of it, that is if I am good enough with the Mcnaughton system!

Great piece!

Curt - this one really made me smile! Love the contrast between the rectangle flat board and the hollow form growing out of it! Very cool concept! Pretty wood! This one really gets your attention! Keep this one in mind if you have any art shows coming up!

Curt,
A very cool piece indeed! Great combination of straight, and curved.

"Art" is one of those things that's hard to describe until you see it. And, yes, I see it!

It is certainly interesting and must have been fun to make.

Here's an idea - keep going on your creative wave and come up with a stand for it. Then it can be 'art on a stand'....
