Trying to properly set up the D4 that I purchased used.

To aligh the side stop bumbers, you use the thin end of the Leigh wrench.

It did not come with the wrench.

Could someone give me the thickness measurement of the wrench?

How important is the exact setting of this?

The thin end measures 1/8". The jig needs to be properly set up to give consistent and accurate results.

...How important is the exact setting of this?...
John,

After you set up the side stops, there are a few things you need to check, to ensure you are getting the best results:

Are your boards flat? The clamps can flatten them, but a board that warps can cause difficulty in assembly.
Is the finger assembly flat on the horizontal backing board? It is critical that the finger assembly is flat, or gaps in the joinery will be visible.
Are all the fingers in good condition, without any chips or dents? When buying used, it is possible the previous owner might have raised the router and caused a little finger damage. No problem, as these can be replaced fairly inexpensively.

One more thing: In use, keep your router always in the same position, without rotating it. And the most important thing:

ENJOY!!!
