Just thought I'd share this, I saw this picture of my cousin and I(im on left) next to this tree. This was before I was a turner and before I even knew what a burl was. I assure you if I was a turner then I would have posed on top of the burl because it's definitely the biggest burl I've ever seen in person.

Alex, That is one big tree and burl! It would be something wonderful to get one like that and create some masterpieces out of it! Keep up the faith and one day you will be rewarded for your patience!

Happy memorial day (tomorrow)

Jeff

Believe me, it is a masterpiece just as it is.

Must have been one heck of a hike! Not many of us will ever get the chance to see something like a Sequoia up close and personal! Looks like it would have been an amazing time!

Well, your tree is bigger, but I think this burl is at least in the running for largest I've ever seen...

Looks like that could be General Sherman. http://www.nps.gov/archive/seki/shrm_pic.htm

That's a tree that could tell some stories if it could talk.

Nahh, its not the Sherman but it is on the exact same walk as the Sherman. Massive trees they are, and now when I think about them all I can think about is how big the burls would be.
It definitely was a great time, 3 of my uncles and 10 of my cousins came out for the trip 2 week trip.
