Well after tearing up my TS arbor nut with a pipe wrench I need a new one. I think I've torn it up too much - it just does not look right.

Are 5/8" arbor nuts threaded the same? It might be easier to get another brand quickly than to get to my local Bosch parts place - assuming they have one in stock.

Thanks!

why on earth would you use a pipe wrench to start with?

If the nut is on the left side of the blade its going to be left handed, if on the right it will be right handed.

A good file, a vise and a little elbow grease should clean up the old one sufficiently tho.

Use a brass tooth brush once and a while to clean out the thread on arbor and nut then you won't have to use a pipe wrench anymore.

Richard, One last thought/suggestion: You dont need to tighten the nut much beyond snug when installing the blade. Just take out any play, the nut will tighten properly when the saw is started. Makes removing the blade *much* easier.

In many, many years of using table saws this is the ONLY time I have had to resort to this sort of ham-handed brute force approach.

The nut was frozen and the pipe wrench was the only thing I had that would fit in the space and give me the leverage I needed to release the nut. Please refer to the previous thread.

I did not overly tighten the nut, this occurred as a result of badly jamming the blade.
