industrial finished tools

We have some snap on tools that are laser engraved, but they have the industrial finish, which is black in color. the engraving has a gold fill. Does anyone know how this is accomplished?

It's possibly been done with a Yag laser, I have seen the goldish colour on some chrome stuff which was done using Yag. They work on a different wave length and don't always need to use cermark type products. Possibly a fiber marker may have been used.
