This was a deliberately misaligned knot for another thread. Seemed like a shame to burn pile it though, so it became a funny little pencil cup. Osage and walnut, 2" x 4". Comments always welcome.

Thanks Burt. Maybe it will bring $5 in a craft show my wife does a couple times a year.

Great looking piece. Didn't deserve the burn pile.

Nice looking wood! Lot of folks would just think that was the design you had in mind when you made it! Should sell with no problem!

Thanks guys. As mentioned in another thread, non-turners do not always see the "defects" in the same light that we do. Maybe it will bring $6.

Should fetch MORE than 5 bucks...... I'd buy it. Nice work.

Okay I'll ask, how'd you do it? I can almost figure the diagonals, but the circles, I can't. Segmented? Hard to say with a pic.

Kyle,
Thanks for your comment. They all start out as diagonals in a square blank. For correct alignment, unlike my sample piece, thickness of the inserts must be equal to width of the saw kerf. There should be a celtic knot tutorial somewhere on this forum. Pen turners use the celtic knot process frequently.
