I was looking for reasonable priced good quality mortise chisels and came across these ones from Traditional Woodworker http://www.traditionalwoodworker.com/default.php/cPath/39_172_645

They look to be very substantial chisels but I cant find any reviews on their performance. Does anyone have any info or experience with these chisels and their quality?

I would suggest that instead of buying a set of morise chisels, just buy them one by one as you need them. You may go for years only needing more than one. A 1/4 or 3/8 may be all you need.

And buy known quality, rather than a good price. Fine Woodworking did a chisel review a while back and had some good recommendations.

My $0.02.

Over the past two years I have casually lurked for mortise chisels, and scored several very nice Butcher, Sheffield Cast Steel, brutes. I believe that I'm not overstating the case by saying that I paid less for four of them than for the single 1/4" Sorby that I initially bought. The old pigstickers are brutes but beauties, too.

These days, I've got more time than money. Hope this helps.

OTOH, my Sorby works great, too.

I've been very satisfied with the performance of these chisels, from the few times I've put them to use. These are hefty tools that can take a pounding.
