Or should that be "Nussecke"... :) The inspiration for this project came from the walnut candle holder that Horst Hohoff posted back in December of 2006 in this thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=47827&highlight=Nussecke

Thanks, Horst!

Hi:
I have uploaded a 5 segment companion video to my article about turning a triangle tea light holder. The article is at: http://bobhamswwing.com/my_woodworking.htm and the playlist for the videos is at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D3808CD5E783692B

Bob,

Looks really neat. I do have a newbie question though. Wouldnt it have been safer and easier to turn this like a bowl and use the bandsaw to cut off the "missing" parts after it was all turned and sanded? Just curious.

Hi, Scott:
Safer, possibly, but I don't see easier. I find these pretty easy done this way and the exposed rim gives instant, unmistakable feedback on how consistent the leg thickness is. I don't think I would want to cut the segments off a round bowl and find out there is a slight variation in the wall thickness that would be very evident once the rim was exposed.

Take care
Bob
