28-200 band saw hums a tune

I bought a used 28-200 band saw and with the help of many here, it is now chewing wood (in a more or less straight line) . When it is plugged in it hums. Just your standard 60 cycle tune. Is that normal?

So it is humming while it is plugged in, even though the motor is not turned on? That is odd.

Open the switch junction box and look for sawdust.
There should be a foam seal under the cover to keep saw dust out.

Does it have a magnetic switch? If so, there is a transformer in it which might hum. Otherwise, unless it is running, you should hear nothing.
