I don't know if it's been posted here, so I'll post them now. I just came across a few video of Japanese plane dai (body or block) maker, Isao Inomoto demonstrating dai making. From scratch to final setup including scooping the sole in less than half an hour (including part that's not shown). That includes occasionally stopping to explain things as well as sliding on his cushion, tossing tools, fidgeting with a plastic bag to get a drill bit. I'm not a Japanese plane user, but even for Western wooden plane users and makers, there are quite a few interesting points to observe. It's amazing really. Especially the foot work (you'll see).

Thank you for that link, it's amazing how simple the work surface and holding device are! I'm always amazed of japaneese woodworker!

he has any toes on his left foot! That chisel looked tempted to take a run at them.

Maybe that's why he's the master and I'm not...
