I got offered a branch from an old mulberry tree today (16" tapering to 10" diamber over 20' length). The heartwood of the cut is dark red. I haven't got any pictures but everything I found on the internet is much lighter in color. Can anyone give give me an idea of where to look for information or what variety of mulberry tree it is?:confused:

This is a terrible picture of a mulberry bowl I turned several years ago. It was a fairly bright yellow when I turned it but changed to this color after a year or so.

Your log may be a different color inside once you cut the ends off.

Doug I agree with Bob. I bet if you cut a couple of inches off one end you will find it is yellow. It will turn a brown color after a while. I sold one about 3 yrs ago and it is a reddish brown color now.

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess I'll just take a whack at it with the saw and see what comes out
