here is a simple cherry hollow form i made. i made it so that the sap wood is almost only in the upper half. there is no finish on this peice.

Nice job on the HF Curtis, but man ya gotta put something on there to pop that grain!! Cherry is such a great looking wood.

well, its either paste wax or waterlox. which should it be?

Good looking HF Curtis! Put some type of finish on it that soaks into the wood - it will help to pop the grain and will also seal & protect the wood. Nice work!

Curtis that is a good looking piece. I would definitely put waterlox on it because it will pop the grain more than wax.

Another vote for Waterlox. It will give a good balance between the heart and sap woods. I like the satin sanded down to remove the gloss with a little hand buffing (or machine) to give it a nice sheen.

Beautiful form and great execution.
