I just ordered the Jet 1642 - 2hp model and it will be here in about 7-10 days. I was thinking of doing the 20% off sale this weekend at woodcraft on the 1 1/2 hp model and decided to go ahead with the 2 hp version instead. I will be moving up from a Jet 1236 and looking very much forward to it. :)

Michael - I have that same lathe and you will be amazed at how much your turning skills will improve because of it! Have fun and if you have any questions on the lathe - be sure to ask as there are quite a few of us with them!

How exciting! There aren't many things as cool as a brand new good lathe like your new Jet. Congratulations!

Congrats.

I, too, just ordered one of these.... Although, I haven't received a delivery estimate yet.

I have predominately been a pen maker, but have made several bowls, and am ready to move up from my 1014; which will still get some use.

....Really looking forward to it.

Oh, I have also been doing many searches to find ideas for added storage and extra weight underneath. Thanks to all who have shared their set-ups. The only problem is that I will have to spend time doing flat-boarding stuff to build something underneath.... : /
