I may have a line on a Grizzly 3 horse shaper for an above average used price. $575. Is this machine worth this price? Should I hold out for a used Delta? A couple of those are going for $800.

I have a friend that owns the Grizzly and likes it. No problems. Used it to restore a 1940's Ford Woody car.

Hi Kent, I have one of the 3 hp Grizzly's, it does what it is supposed to do. The fence is crude to say the least. I knew I was going to ditch the fence when I bought it, so it didnt matter. Mine stays set up for making the rail cuts on RP doors.
If I could get a used Delta for $800, I would buy it instead. Much more solid spindle and motor mount, also a better fence, better resale value, basically a better shaper.
Unless the Grizzly is real new, or in excellent condition, $575 isnt a screaming deal when you can get a new one shipped to your door for $925. JMO
