Thanks to Steve Schlumpf, Tom Steyer and a few others on this forum I have completed my vacuum system. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but it passed test developing 27 in. HG. Also made two vacuum chucks. A 4 in. and a 3 in. Used closed cell packing compliments of a local furniture store. I have about 26 bowls in the drying process that will be ready late this month. This stuff is fun.:)

Woody - congrats on getting your system up and running! 27 hg is pretty impressive - the most I have ever gotten is 24 hg! Make sure - once you start finishing off your turnings - that you pay attention to your hg level and don't over do it! Looking forward to seeing some of your turnings real soon!

Very nice setup Woody. What kind of pump did you use? It looks like a gast from the pics.

Wow that is impressive at 27hg!! I can only pull about 21-23 on my system which is good enough or so it seems. Vacuum chucking is so fun!!

The pump is a GAST model 0522-P335-G509DAX. I got it from http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.as...4-1669&catname. I would have prefered a 110 volt model, for the price I can live with the 220 volt.

Woody,

Great job on the vacuum pump setup. It sure looks better than mine. I get about 27 hg also and just love it! I also followed the turorial of Steve Schlumpf, and got my adapter from Tom Steyer, what great guys they are!
