Hi Everybody,

I've been lurking here for some time, and am already deep in the vortex! I'm a professional furniture maker in Pittsburgh, PA. While I do turn for money from time to time (mostly spindle reproductions) my time at the lathe is mostly for relaxation. Anyway, I thought it was time I introduced myself.

I turn on a 1950s era Delta 12x36 lathe and use the normal assortment of tools. After a number of mistakes and false starts with tool purchases, I am now a fan of P&N.

Recently I have been teaching myself a bit about segmented turning. I've done a few open form bowls and two vases. Here are two. The bowl is a made from wenge, bubinga, and maple. It's about 11" in diameter and 6" or so high. The vase is curly maple (all one board), black dyed poplar veneer, and bocote. Dimensions - 11" tall and about 6" in diameter. It was a bunch of sanding and fitting!

Cheers,
Garth

Garth - beautiful work and welcome! Where abouts in Pittsburgh do you live? Many years ago I lived in Upper St. Clair, about 15 miles from downtown.
