Have been away from the Creek here with family and work issues. Have checked in once in awhile and glad to be back.
Last evening around 8pm made it home from moving most of our youngest daughter's items home from college...pulled into the driveway and my eyes were drawn to our ash tree where I have been working on expanding our flower garden around it. Leaning up on the tree trunk were these two cherry burls! The one on the left is about the size of a basketball and seems solid through. The one on the right is about 3' tall and at the largest about 60"+ in circumference! And heavy...I couldn't really lift it so had to ROLL it onto the driveway and into the garage. Today I will coat the ends and then make some plans as to what will become of them. Not sure if I will let them set awhile and dry down?? Might be a long time for that or rough somethings out and then coat them, dry them down.
Just wanted to share my good fortune...thanks for looking.
Sorry for the poor picture quality...
Allen

And as for the Wood Cutting Gods...no word yet on who actually stopped in with these. I hope to figure it out soon and thank the right people!

Congrats on the burl! My experience with cherry burl is that it wants to crack real easy. Be sure to seal everything real good or rough turn everything as soon as possible!

Looking forward to seeing what you turn out of these!

WOW, those look great, seem like pretty big burls for a small diameter tree, looking forward to see what you turn with it.
