I got a order for 26 crow calls early last week and it took better part of the weekend to finish them up. This is some very nice cocobolo on the bodies of these. My fingers are glad that the mouth pieces are done. I sand each mouth piece by hand to tune them.

And here all this time I thought you taught shop....never would have guessed you were a production turner! LOL

Very nice looking calls! I recognize the cocobolo but what is the mouth piece made out of? The color suggests cedar - so I was curious. Your customer should be very pleased with the results! Hope it leads to a lot more orders!

Thanks for the compiments everyone. The sell of these and turkey calls support my turing habit. I've turned some since I was in high school back in the 70's, but when I started making these crow calls 4 years ago it caused me to finailly get serious about it. I can turn the cocobolo bodies out about 9 per hour. I use an old delta forged spindle gouge. Beleave it or not I can turn 50 calls before it needs to be sharpened. The mouth pieces take about 30 minutes each if every thing goes right. Steve you are right, the mouth piece's are made from cedar. Moisture doesn't seem to effect the cedar much if any.
Thanks again,
Jack
