This is not the best turning in the world but it has a lot going on in it. Sometimes you just have to do what the wood will let you do. It measures 7 by 7, sealcoat finish. This is what the piece looked like before the lathe.

Looks nice to me. Was the wood dry?

That's really nice Mike. Made me go take a look at my Dogwood tree, but no burls on it. I think LOML would kill me if I lopped a branch off to turn.

Very nice work Mike! Great job on being able to keep it all together as I have had a number of forms with bark inclusions blow apart on me! Really like the form, the curl and the finish! Also like the photos of the finished piece! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice, Mike! I was sure worth the risk you had to overcome!
That natural opening is great!

I agree, at first glance at the branch I wondered in my minds eye which axis to turn it on and after seeing what you did with it it became apparent the piece told you what to do with it..veddy nice indeed! Glad it held together for ya Mike. Was ya nervous at times while it was spinning?

Really nice piece. I like the natural pieces and the inclusions. The red streaking is quite nice.

Did you sand the interior of it, and if so, how?

Tim

I do sand the insides some times, but not on this one.
