Is this machine solid and accurate enough for the weekend wood worker? I love the price. It won't take much to get me to buy this.

Hello,
Just a reminder that both the 8" and 10" are on sale @ Woodcraft the 15th and 16th.
Even w/shipping added, they run less than the Amazon price w/free shipping.

Those folks who make suggestions or give warnings after the fact are just spitting in grits. some times I think they are just waiting for somebody to do something, anything just so they can carp about it.

In all fairness, you posted your question Saturday and then made your purchase about 30 hours later. Even though the Creek is 10,000 strong, that time frame is a bit tight. A search here yielded pages of results on these machines. It is still distressing to hear about stuff after the fact though :(.

Congrats on the purchase and I look forward to hearing about machine and how it does. There seems to be a lot of speculation (including mine) without much to back it up. I'm anxious to hear the real deal :).

Sorry you feel that way Mark. When I read your first post I stopped right there and made my post before reading any further. I did not realize you had already placed your order.

In the future I will put you on my list of those who don't want my input.

I read the postings referred to. It didn't seem as if anyone was carping. Several mentioned the same problems, like tables not being flat. This would certainly make me want to see the machine in person if at all possible. Sometimes, you can find out from the dealer who owns one close to you. Many years ago,I went 50 miles each way and spent the day helping a guy I didn't know to set up his new metal lathe, just so I could see if it would turn a true cylinder, and face a flat surface flat. Many will not do both accurately enough.
To test the lathe,it had to be gotten perfectly level within tight tolerances in the first place.

That said,I don't find Mark an unreasonable guy.

And maybe I'm just in a cranky mood today.

When I used to lay hardwood floors my boss told me a lot of our red oak came from blackjacks. So I guess it's good for at least that. Here's a pretty piece I found on google.
