I took your file and modified it slightly and used some of George Perzel's maple wood thins to cut out the pins.

I made the mistake of making the plate too large thereby ruining the overall balance of the plaque but at least this will let you know that your art file is appreciated.

I wouldn't go the the trouble usually but this plaque is for a neighbor who will pay with a bottle of high quality adult beverage distilled in KY.

Well, I just couldn't let that one go out. Here's the re-do of the plate.

Mike,

That's AWESOME! You should have seen the crap I made with it! Glad one of us could put it to good use!

Mike,

I'm curious - did you purposely make the grain of the pins match the background?

This is a beautiful award - extremely simple but super effective use of all elements. I love the color contrast of the pieces, really makes it pop.

Since the pins went in every which direction and I wanted to cut them at one time as a group I chose to use a vertical orientation for the maple.

I engraved the walnut first to about 1/32" depth for placement and to hide the glue. I also engraved the band area on the pins to give me a paint line.
