Okay..

If a PH3 x 5hp motor draws 14.5 amps 220V.. What amperage will be needed to run that same motor on a VFD, single phase..

Approx is okay..

...

I know a bunch of people where thinking this was a "what size wire question.." .. lol..

Hi Rick, that's 5,525VA (220V X 14.5A X square root of 3).

Dividing 5,525VA by 240 volts yields 23.0 Amperes single phase.

Note that the VFD input current will be different than that. The VFD manufacturer would have the exact figures for you.
