This is a redone HF. It originally just had a cocobolo collar that didn't fit right or look right. So I re-chucked it, which shortened it a little, turned away the coco collar and added a walnut collar and a carved finial/ stopper that sits in the collar. I can't figure out how to photgraph dark wood so the pic has an inset closeup of the finial that's brightened so you can see it better.

Sweet. How did you carve the finial?
Did you keep it on the lathe as you carved?
By the way I love the HF.

I am also impressed! The HF is wonderful... but the finial is magic. :)
