I got best of show
I particapated in an art festival at Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, Illinois)this past week end (May 2nd. and 3rd.

I almost fell over when the event cordinator came up to me and said that I got best of show.

Diane. My wife gets most of the credit. I just turn the items, she makes them look good on the tables and shelves.

Thanks everyone

I asked the event cordinator what peice caught the judges eye.
She said it was for the whole booth. Here is the only picture that Diane got of the booth. And one of me demonstrating. Maybe the demo helped.

The award also came with a $1000. Sales were also very good there.

I do wish they had chosen a particular peice, so I would know what to work toward.

Jerry, that's a righteous gloat, for sure! Congratulations! I like your bowl displays. Can you elaborate somewhat about your stands that keep the large bowls tilted up? Those are great! I like the way you have that platter near your lathe for the finger tops.
Good job, Jerry.

Thanks guys.
I am still on a high about this. Rarely does wood even get looked at by judges. I do not know when when they were there, but I must have had the right answers when they asked about the turnings.

Alan those are plate racks of some sort. Vinyl covered wire, 3 piece (riveted together) that stay put at about any angle, and fold up for storing. Diane picked them up on sale at Walgreens drug store.

Jerry I love that dark Peppermill. That is a fabulous form and the finish on it is second to none! Amazing work. That one gets my vote!
