I have come across a large load of Little Leaf Linden. The tree cutter tells me to take all I want. Turned any? Photos of any turned LL Linden? I would appreciate your insights to this wood before I go cut it up. Thanks ...Bill..

I'm not 100% positive, but I've alway know Linden to be the wood that the carvers use and call Basswood. It doesn't usually have a lot of character in the grain but works very well.

I am 100% sure that it is basswood

not much grain to it but wood carvers will die for it

take all you can

Looking forward to seeing what you turn out of it Bill! If there is no grain to speak of - might be a great time for enhancements, dye, piercing, etc...

100% also... Basswood. Wonderful, easy-grained soft wood. Turns like butter, has no character, but is really light weight. Makes wonderful utility bowls.
Get it, use it, dye it, carve it, turn it... it's really useable wood.

Being a carver as well as a turner the light bulb should have gone off for me when I found out it was Linden which equals basswood! This old age thing really sucks! Going for chainsaw oil tomorrow....early. Thanks for the wood ID help...Bill..
