I'm not interested in the heads at all, just the cutters. In fact, the cutters wont go on any head. I will be using them for a turning tool.

Can you tell me where you get them?

Thanks,
Burt

Burt, you can buy them in packets of ten. Here's a couple of sources.

Mark,
Are 15mm standard for these heads? The size is right, I was wondering what variables would be available such as radius cutters and something smaller or larger.

Thanks,
Burt

You can get any radius or shape of carbide insert you want from metal manufacturing supply houses like Manhattan Supply.

Here is another source, which carries a variety of sizes and shapes. I got some square ones (non-radiused) to go along with the one i pilfered from my Byrd spares. The square ones I use for pen blanks, cutting from the ends like a metal lathe would do. Makes short work of acrylic blank rounding. I like the radiused one for more typical wood turning tasks, where I don't want to worry about corner dig in.

I got the thicker (2.5 mm) 14.3 mm square cutter [URL]http://globaltooling.bizhosting.com/14-3-x-14-3-x-2-5-4-edge-carbide-insert.html

Burt,

These look like the ones that came with my byrd jointer head. I'm not sure how many sizes types byrd offers. Dan has a good source for variable sizes and shapes. Another site worth looking at www.mcmaster.com (http://www.mcmaster.com).
