new plane

I got a plane off ebay, a transitional jack. On the front it's hard to read but on the blade it says Roxton Plane with Roxton Pond underneath it. Any info on it? I never heard of this company before. Thanks

If it's a transitional, it is almost certainly a Stanley. Stanley had a plant in Roxton Falls for many years to serve mostly the Canadian market, but occasionally they shipped to the UK. The lack of duties between Commonwealth countries made having a Canadian plant very desirable for Stanley when they wanted to be competitive in all of the English speaking countries.

Maybe some of our Canadian members can fill in some of the details about dates of operation.
