I have a couple Leeson motors that need the bearings replaced. I was thinking about trying to replace them myself. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who's tried this or has any advice.

It's normally not a very tough job, but you may need a puller, and a press. For just a couple of motors, you might get a motor shop to do it fairly inexpensively.

You do need a puller. You really dont need a press, as there are other options for installing.

Do it yourself. It takes about 20 minutes.

For GREAT bearing prices, call Lynne at AccurateBearing.com

The 3/4 Leeson I did a while back had 6204's, I think.

When you are ready to mount bearings back on shaft, set then of top of a light bulb (turned on of course) for about 10 minutes. Using a pair of leather gloves, pick up bearings and drop them on the shaft. The heat will have expanded the bearings, and the heat from the bulb isn't enough to damage them.
