Hello!

I know the Grizzly G0513x2 bandsaw gets great reviews. In an effort to buy local I see that ShopFox (Grizzly sold through dealers) has a very similar model 1707. for $1053.00. Very close to the Grizzly price.
Anyone know how close this model is to the 513x2? Anyone own the ShopFox 1707?

Dave,

I have the 513x2. Looking at the W1707 manual it looks like there are only a few subtle differences. The following comments are my opinion based on the manual of the Shop Fox.

G0513x2 positives
better fence
from the pictures it looks like the bear head wheels have more cast iron, don't know if it is true
lower positioned blade guard crank
cast iron trunions - better?
dual ball bearing guides - better?

W1707 positives
better/ bigger table tilting mechanism with a large crank wheel.
miter gauge might be better

Everything else looks to be about the same

The Woodstock site is not working well but you can look at the manual through this direct link:

I do see that the handle for adjusting the blade guard and bearings is higher on the case of the Shop Fox.

I like the lower adjustment handle on my Grizzly 0513.

Right now I also have it wired for 110 which was nice until I can get 220 installed. It has done everything I wanted to do on 110, to include cutting 7 inch beams.

Looks like any choice you make will be a good one.
