Just was wondering, Does anybody here do business with The Woodturners Catolog http://www.woodturnerscatolog.com ? Is there quality as good as say Berea Hardwoods? They have a few projects that I have not seen any place else. Hoping that I will be turning again by October/November to make some chrstmas presents from their kits.

Thanks for your advice/thoughts Dave

Correct URL is: http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/

Craft Supplies is one of the "perenial" suppliers of stuff for woodturners. They are not my favorite vendor, however, as it's not uncommon to experience backorders, etc., with them in my experience. I prefer Packard Woodworks (http://www.packardwoodworks.com) over Craft Supplies for Internet turning purchases, which is a small, closely owned business with excellent service. Brad Packard is the one you deal with when you call or email about your order or for support, too. Nice fellow. Berea, however, has a very good reputation for quality stuff, especially for pen turners.

Thanks Jim

Man it is a good thing I don't type code for a living :D

My typing is worse then my spelling and my spelling is horrible

Maybe I wil call first and make sure they have the projects I am interested in.

I'm with Becker on this one. Packard is a nice co. Easy to deal with, has most in stock all the time, fast shipping.

I've ordered from all of the vendors above with good luck. I've bought several hundred dollars of turning tools, accessories and project kits from Craft Supplies in the past year or two. They have occasionally experienced backorders but they called me every time it happened to let me know. I haven't noticed their backorder frequency being markedly different than any of their competitors.

I have used them on numerous occasions and have been happy with their service and their products.

p.s. Craft Supplies USA (Woodturners Catalog) is a major sponsor and contributor to the FPP having donated 800 free kits and more than 800 pen blanks. So when selecting a supplier - all things being somewhat equal - then "support those that support us".
