I have not been able to find Boiled Linseed Oil at local Lowes or Ace Hardware, is there a brand name I should be looking for? Minwax Antique finish, I believe , is a varnish mixture. Is it still OK for pen CA/BLO?
Thanks

Try a a couple of Painters supply stores.

You should be able to find it at Lowes, Ace, or HD.

Look for it in the "solvent" section. These 3 companies usually stock a bunch of stuff from Kleenstrip; they're in blue square qt and gallon cans. If the clerks don't know what linseed oil is, then ask them where the acetone, ethanol, mineral spirits, naphtha, turpentine, or paint thinner is.

Lowes and home depot both carry it here in NJ. Yes look in the solvent isles. Blue can.

I've found the home stores run out every once and a while so keep looking. As others have said, try WallyWorld and painting stores. My local Ace always has it and it is a very small store.

Andy - Lowes should have it - at least it is listed on their website: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productList&N=4294961544&Ne=4294967294&Ntk=i_products&Ntt=boiled+linseed+oil

I've seen BLO in just about every hardware store. The last time I bought some it was from Ace.
WARNING: Rags and toweling used with Linseed oil must be stored in an air tight container. Boiled Linseed Oil rags can spontaneous combust. We have had fires in our ink room at work from this.
